ABOUT THIS VEHICLE
The story behind TATC is rooted in true adventure and passion for the Land Rover marque. Founded by two longtime friends who traveled extensively throughout Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, TATC was born from firsthand experience using Land Rover Defenders in some of the harshest environments on earth. From safari camps and wildlife reserves in Zambia to remote trails in the Australian Outback, these vehicles proved themselves as some of the toughest and most dependable 4x4s ever built. Drawing upon decades of experience and over 70 years of Land Rover heritage, TATC set out to restore and improve iconic Defenders to a standard beyond their original factory condition.
Completed in late 2020, this left-hand-drive Defender 110 received a complete chassis-up restoration by TATC in the United Kingdom and is finished in timeless Corris Grey. Power comes from a fully rebuilt and reconditioned Turner Engineering 200TDI diesel engine paired with an Ashcroft transmission and transfer case. Performance was further enhanced with the addition of a Hybrid Turbo Technics bespoke performance turbocharger and upgraded performance clutch, delivering improved drivability and reliability while preserving the classic Defender character enthusiasts appreciate.
This Defender was upgraded extensively throughout the restoration process. Exterior enhancements include a Front Runner Slimline II Half Rack, front bumper A-Bar, ARB V2 Intensity LED spotlights, satin black refinished sub nudge bar, and upgraded fog lights. Inside, the cabin features highly desirable Exmoor upgraded leather seating, blending rugged utility with elevated comfort and refinement.
Following the restoration, Gaswerks Garage performed a comprehensive vehicle safety inspection along with extensive servicing and upgrades. The air conditioning system was inspected and tested, while the turbo manifold and downpipes were removed, cleaned, inspected, and reinstalled using upgraded hardware, new seals, clamps, and heat shielding. Additional work included reinforcement of the door knobs, replacement of seals and gaskets to address oil leaks, installation of new power steering, air conditioning, and alternator belts, and a full inspection of the transmission assembly.
Further servicing included replacement of the rear main seal, backing plate gasket, clutch assembly, fuel tank, sending unit, high-pressure pump housing gasket, fuel primer pump gasket, bracket gasket, and drain crush rings. Differential fluid service was completed to factory specification along with transfer case fluid replacement and clutch fluid exchange. Suspension and steering components including front suspension ball joints, steering spindle, and drop arm were also replaced. Rear brake lines were renewed, all door seals were removed and cleaned, and a four-wheel alignment was performed.
Purpose-built yet exceptionally refined, this Defender 110 embodies the spirit of classic overland adventure while benefiting from the reliability and usability of a modern restoration.
