This 1959 Land Rover 88 Series II was sold new in San Francisco and remained in California and Nevada until 2016 according to the seller, who subsequently acquired it for use in New York and Tennessee. Finished in Pastel Green over elephant hide gray vinyl, the truck is powered by a 2.25-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Modifications include PerTronix electronic ignition, an electric fuel pump, a Voyager roof rack, Exmoor floor mats, and a trench shovel. Engine, drivetrain, brake, and suspension work has been carried out under current ownership along with replacement of the transmission, transfer case, and more.

The body wears a Pastel Green finish. Equipment includes a hood-mounted spare wheel, a Voyager roof rack with lights which have not been wired in, and a WWII trench shovel affixed to the rear door. The  windshield wipers have been refurbished and new door hinges fitted.

White 16″ steel wheels wear Bluestar 7.50-16 tires are mounted over Fairey locking hubs up front. Brake work including installation of new drums, shoes, and hoses as well as replacement of a hydraulic brake switch and a wheel cylinder. The suspension has been refreshed with new bushings, leaf springs, and shock absorbers. The front and rear hub seals were also replaced, a wheel bearing service was carried out, and new tie rods were fitted.

The cabin features a triple front seat trimmed in elephant hide gray vinyl, a banjo steering wheel and Exmoor floor mats. Instrumentation includes a speedometer and gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. A Smiths fuel level gauge has been fitted. The five-digit odometer shows 11k miles. Actual mileage is unknown.

The 2.25-liter inline-four is equipped with a PerTronix distributor and ignition coil, a Weber 34 ICH carburetor, and a Carter electric fuel pump. Additional maintenance included fluid changes as well as replacement of the alternator and exhaust manifold, installation of a Rocky Mountain oil filter adapter, and repair and cleaning of the stock radiator.

Power is sent to all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and transfer case, both of which were new old-stock when installed. The clutch flywheel, clutch pressure plate and slave cylinder, and “bean can” clutch/brake reservoir have also been replaced along with the front driveshaft. 11,019 miles shown, T.M.U.
